Set on the route of Kedarnath path, one can enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the Himalayas if going for a trek like the Chandra Shila trek.

Chandrashila is the summit of Tungnath. Chandrashila is located 2kms uphill from tung nath and the path to go to Chandra Shila is a pretty adventurous experience itself. The narrow trail paths in the rocky mountains surrounded by rock meadows (during the summer season but, in winter it is all snow-capped) is itself a very thrilling and exciting experience.

Tungnath being considered as the highest (altitude is almost 4000m) out of the Panch Kedar is definitely a very tough trek because of the steepness it has throughout. This steep trek covers a distance of 5 kilometers. And the route is changed depending on the season because of the intensity of snowfall in that region. One can literally experience the sudden change in weather there as one time it is all so foggy that one can barely see the person next to them then the next moment, you can experience how gigantic the sun looks and makes you sweat.

This place has not only been a center of attraction the trekkers and tourists in general but also is known for the famous one of the Panchkedars – Tungnath, one of the most popular and significant temples of Lord Shiva.

Instructions: One is instructed to carry warm clothes as the temperature there ranges from 2 degrees Celsius to 7-8 degrees Celsius. One should carry warm clothes like sweatshirts, jackets, raincoats, fleece jackets and thermals and also gloves and socks to cover their hands and feet. One is instructed to carry water bottles, some energy bars, and energy drinks so that they can cope up with the exhaustion during the journey. One should also carry sunglasses, towels, lotions, moisturizers, and sunscreen so as to protect themselves from the direct rays of the sun. One should also carry their personal toiletries like toilet paper, sanitary pads, hand sanitizers, pee safe sprays, etc along with some basic medical aid in the time of an emergency that happens to occur just in case. One should make sure that their backpack is waterproof as well.

One should also carefully listen to the guidelines provided by the State Government of Uttarakhand. One should also carefully pay attention to the instructors and the guides during the course of the trek. One should be responsible for their personal belongings like cameras, mobile phones, video recorders, and other gadgets as well. Consumption of alcohol and other toxicants are strictly prohibited during the course of this trek. One should avoid trekking at night because of the wild animals around in the jungle. Since the trek is entirely an eco-friendly zone one should not throw their litter around the campsites or even in the local areas. Drinking is strictly prohibited around this area as this place holds a very religious significance.

One can enjoy the beautiful vast meadows all across the trail and some nice dense forest.
