Car manufacturers have a plethora of cars lined up for launch by the end of this year. There are new models, facelifted models, and new variants that are set to launch, and we give you an insight into the models that will be launched across different segments. Kia Sonet

Expected Price: ₹ 8.00 - 13.00 lakh

Launch Expected: September 2020

With the Kia Sonet, the brand will be diving into the compact SUV segment in India. The SUV features a very stylish design language; it will get the signature Tiger Nose grille, distinctive 'heartbeat' headlights and taillight clusters, curvaceous wheel arches, and smart-looking alloy wheels. Expect the interior to be of good quality and solid build, with comfortable and supportive seats and space very similar to the Hyundai Venue. The Sonet will be powered by three engine options: a 1.5-liter turbo diesel that makes 98bhp and 240Nm of torque, a 1.0-liter direct-injection turbo petrol engine that makes 118bhp, and 172Nm of torque, and a 1.2-liter petrol engine that produces 81bhp and 115Nm of torque. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual, a torque-converter auto 'box, a 5-speed manual, and an iMT clutchless manual.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

Expected Price: ₹ 8.00 - 12.00 lakh

The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be built by Maruti alongside the Vitara Brezza, on which it is based. The Urban Cruiser looks more rugged, compared to the Vitara Brezza, thanks to its Fortuner-like twin-slat grille that gets chrome on either side. Even the bumper looks quite sporty, but the side profile and the rear are expected to look similar to the Maruti counterpart. The cabin in the Urban Cruiser will be largely identical to the Vitara Brezza's, barring the seat fabric and upholstery. It is bound to also feature the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system that is offered on other Maruti Suzuki models. Expect the Urban Cruiser to come powered by the same 1.5-liter K15 petrol engine that does duty in the Vitara Brezza. It will make 103bhp and 138Nm of torque and will come mated either to a 4-speed torque-converter auto 'box or a 5-speed manual.

New Mahindra Thar

Expected Price: ₹ 12.00 - 15.00 lakh

The second-generation Thar will finally replace the old model after having been around since 2010. The new model retails the silhouette of the older Thar but now looks beefier, with modern design cues. It gets round headlamps, a seven-slot grille, wide tyres, and modern yet simplistic tail lights. It also comes with the option of either a hardtop or a soft top. It will be sold in six color options: Aquamarine, Rocky Beige, Napoli Black, Red Rage, Galaxy Grey, and Mystic Copper. The 4x4 now gets more contemporary interiors and creature comforts. Features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multi-information display, cruise control, and steering-mounted controls will make their way onto the model. Engines will include a 2.0-liter, mStallion petrol engine that makes 149bhp and 320Nm of torque, paired either to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic and a 2.2-liter mHawk engine that makes 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. Gearbox options are the same for this unit too.

New Hyundai Elite i20

Expected Price: ₹ 6.5 - 10.00 lakh

The next-generation Hyundai cars will be one of the most important launches for the brand after the new Creta SUV. The new i20 gets a more aggressive look from the front and rear. There are lots of creases and slashes that give it a sharp appeal. It gets the signature cascading grille, a contrast roof, and huge, Z-shaped LED tail lights with the top half of the boot lid blacked out. It will also sport 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin is all-new and comes loaded with features; it also gets new steering, also seen on the new Creta, and a dashboard design that shares some cues with new Elantra's. In terms of engines, it will get a 118bhp, 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will feature a mild-hybrid system, and will come mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch auto 'box. Also expect 1.2-liter petrol and a 1.5-liter, BS6-compliant diesel engine.

New Audi Q3

Expected Price: ₹ 35.00 - 45.00 lakh

Launch Expected: October 2020

Audi will be bringing the second-generation Q3 to India and will take on the likes of the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Volvo's XC40. The new Q3 looks like the flagship Q8, particularly from the front, with its slender LED headlights with matrix LEDs, a massive front grille, and bolder character lines along the sides. Even the rear looks sharper than before. It is expected to come with 17-inch wheels and 20-inches for the top-of-the-line model. The cabin is expected to be more spacious than before since it is based on VW's MQB platform. It also gets more equipment, like cruise and park assist features, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a 360-degree camera. For India, you can expect the SUV to come with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that makes 147bhp and a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine that makes 147bhp.

Tata HBX

Expected Price: ₹ 5.00 - 8.00 lakh

This micro SUV from Tata Motors will slot in below the Nexon and will be the smallest SUV on sale in India when launched. The model will be based on Tata's new ALFA platform. The scalable architecture has been designed keeping in mind the future of EVs and includes different body styles, like SUVs, hatchbacks, and sedans. The HBX follows Tata's Impact 2.0 design language and uses many styling cues from the Harrier. It gets a split headlight set up with the main unit below and also sports the Humanity Line front grille. The HBX boasts of a tall, muscular stance that is unique to this type of model. It gets lots of creases and angular panels, while the rear sports compact tail lights with LED inserts. Giving it a butch looks are the faux front and rear skid plates. Inside, the steering is similar to the one on the Altroz; it gets square-shaped AC vents and a sleek dashboard layout. The car is expected to be spacious with large and supportive seats. It will also come with doors that open 90 degrees. The HBX is likely to get an 84bhp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.
